Fun Things For August In Nanaimo

Before you know it our fall weather will be here, but it's not too late to soak in more of our wonderful summer sunshine.  Here are three fun things to do in Nanaimo in August that I think you'll enjoy:

The Canada Day 1 exhibit continues through the end of August at the Nanaimo Museum in the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.  The exhibit lets you explore immigrant's personal Day 1 experiences, from Confederation through today.  These unique and shared experiences are expressed through oral histories, images and artwork.  Watching, listening and learning, you will find yourself being sent back to your very first day in Canada, and you'll also find featured immigration stories of Nanaimo families.  The Nanaimo Museum is located at 100 Museum Way in Nanaimo.

Every Wednesday night in August come and attend the free summer concert series in Maffeo Sutton Park beginning at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday evening.  You'll find John Pippus and Aynsley Leonard performing soulful folk and blues music, and the Tequhilla Mocking Bird Orchestra with the sounds of flamenco, aftrican percussion, bluegrass and more.  You'll be taken back to the 50's, 60's and 70's with the Doctors of Rock & Roll, and the R&B and pop music of the Glen Foster Group.  And if that's not enough music for you, each Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 you'll find free lunch time music at the Park!
