Fun Things To Do In Nanaimo In July

There's almost no reason not to be outdoors when July comes to Nanaimo!  Here are three fun July events that will get you out of the house and into our beautiful summer weather:

Come celebrate Canada Day on Tuesday, July 1st at Maffeo Sutton Park.  Sponsored by the City of Nanaimo the Canada Day celebration is free for all, and begins at 11 a.m. with the Celebration of Flags and Opening Ceremonies.  You'll find a multi-cultural food fair, the downtown farmers market, plus roving entertainment by Zigster the Trickster and the Vesta Fire Stiltwalkers.  Dress up in your red and white and come celebrate the 147th birthday of Canada!

The 2014 BC Summer Games begin July 17th in Nanaimo at various venues throughout the City including VIU, the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre, and Beban Park.  You'll find 19 sports in the Games - everything from basketball and baseball, to kayaking and rowing, to volleyball and wrestling plus 13 other sporting events!  Get complete information all of four days' events at www.BCGames.org

bathtub races in NanaimoJuly in Nanaimo means time in the water . . . if you're looking for something a little bit different then plan on attending the 2014 Nanaimo Marine Festival and International World Bathtub Race!  The event begins Friday July 25th at Maffeo Sutton Park where you'll find food vendors, an arts and crafts fair, a carnival for the kids and much more.  Then on Sunday the 27th head over to Nanaimo Harbour at 11 a.m. to watch the launch of the Word Championship Bathtub Race.  For more details visit www.Bathtubbing.com.
